How to Make Candied Camote

Candied Camote Recipe
Ingredients: 6 to 8 serving (Dishes)
1 kilo orange camote, peeled
Water for boiling
1 cup brown sugar, plus additional for sprinkling
½ cup water
2 tablespons butter

  • Soak peeled camote in a bowl of water for about 15 minutes to prevent discoloration. Cut each camote into wedges. Preheat oven to 350 degree F.
  • Put camote wedges in a large casserole and pour in enough water to cover. Bring to a boil then lower heat to simmer. Let simmer until camote wedges are tender but still firm, about 15 to 20 minutes. Check for doneness.
  • Arrange cooked wedges in an oven proof dish. In a saucepan, combine sugar and the ½ cup water and bring to a boil to make a syrup. Add butter and stir.
  • Pour syrup over camote wedges. You may sprinkle additional sugar over the wedges, if desired. Bake in preheated oven for 20 minutes. Serve as accompaniment to roast pork loin, roast chicken or turkey, or eat as dessert. End.
