Orange Sherbet Recipe

Orange Sherbet
Ingredients: Makes 4 cups
3 tablespoons freshly grated orange zest
1 ½ cups freshly squeezed orange juice
1 cup sugar
½ cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
1 ½ tablespoons freshly grated ginger
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
¼ teaspoon kosher salt
1 ½ cups very cold whole milk
Garnish: waffle cookies

  • In the work bowl of a food processor, combine orange zest. Orange juice, sugar, lemon juice. Ginger, vanilla, and salt. Purse until ingredients are combined and sugar is dissolved. Pour mixture into a large bowl. Whisk milk into orange mixture. Cover and refrigerate until mixture reaches 40 degree, aproximately 1 hour.
  • Pour mixture into a gel type ice cream maker, and freeze according to manufacturer’s instrubtions. Sherbet will be soft. If a firmer texture is desire. Transfer sherbet to an airtight container, and freeze until firm. Approximately 2 hours. Garnish with waffle cookies. If desired.
