How to Make Grilled Red Pepper Burgers

Grilled Red Pepper Burgers with Sandra Lee
Ingredients: Makes 4 large hamburgers
2 pounds groun round
2 pounds ground chuck
½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon ground black pepper
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
4 provolone cheese slices
1 large red bell pepper, seeded and quartered
4 hamburger buns
½ cup mayonnaise
2 tablespoons yellow mustard
4 lettuce leaves
1 large white onion, cut into 4 (1/2 inch thick) slices

Procedures:
  • Spray grill rack with nonstick nonflammable cooking spray. Preheat grill to medium high heat (350 degree to 400 degree) in a large bowl, gently combine ground beef, salt, pepper, and worcestershire sauce. Using hands, shape into 4 patties.
  • Grill, covered with grill lid, for 7 to 9 minutes on each side, or until desired degree of doneness. Top each patty with a cheese slice, and grill, covered with grill lid, for 1 minute, or until cheese melts. Grill bell pepper for 3 minutes on each side. Grill bun tops and bottoms for 30 seconds on each side.
  • In a small bowl, stir together mayonnaise and mustard until smooth. Spread mayonnaise mixture on bottom halves of buns. Top with patties layer with lettuce, onion slices, and grilled bell pepper. Cover with bun tops. Serve immediately. End.
